All the what if’s

GOAL-SCORING #1: I go back in time and remember some of my favorite goals that I scored. I have a smile on my face. That’s because some goals were very special. What made them special was that I often visualized them before I scored them, and when I scored them they were almost an exact replica of how I visualized them.

With visualization I practiced a lot more goal-scoring off the field than on the field. I did this because a typical on-field training only dedicated a small amount of time to the activity and techniques of goal-scoring. What’s more, those exercises were shared with my team-mates, so my individual ball contact time in goal-scoring exercises was minimal.

Visualizing goal-scoring allowed me to practice with all the ball contact I wanted. I could visualize all the what if’s with regards to scoring goals - what if I am standing in a challenging space, what if the defender is pushing me, what if the pass I receive is bouncy, what if I am not holding my hockey stick with two hands, what if it’s only 30 seconds to go before the end of the match, what if …, what if …

Visualization is a proven method of enhancing any kind of physical activity. I would love to help you discover the ways visualization can give you a physical boost. Contact me if you are interested.
